Wife and I chose Governor Hotel via Travel website. Hotel was easy to get to and from I-5 highway. The Governor is a small classy hotel. Our room was spacious, clean, and was tastefully decorated. The bathroom was updated and the king size bed was comfortable. We found the hotel to be quiet which is difficult for any hotel located in a downtown location. We ordered room service for dinner and the food was excellent and timely. Would definitely recommend the Governor to anyone visiting the Portland area.

Overall good hotel. Close to everything - shopping, dining and Powells. Nice to have a Starbucks in the lobby, a restuarant downstairs. Staff were very helpful, especially the doormen with figuring out how to keep our bikes safe and accessable. Only bad thing was the shower/tub drained slow.

My second stay at the Governor was as great as the first. The historic hotel's renovation is lovely and comfortable. My bed was very comfortable, the room was nicely appointed, and the bathroom perfect. Also, the location of the hotel is incredibly perfect as it is right downtown and slightly off Broadway, but best of all are the food carts right across the street! At lunchtime you can get practically any type of cuisine imaginable. I had not only the best bratwurst, but also some of the best thai chicken and rice dish. The hotel is not only walking distance from everything, but you can also catch the light rail or bus to practically any destination.

The staff was very friendly, the hotel centrally located, and the hotel very beautiful. I only stayed one night but felt welcomed by the staff. The room itself was enjoyable but the bathroom needs to be updated. The toilet rocked and made alarming noises and the shower did not seem to be as clean as it could have been. Parking is ridiculously expensive so I recommend using a smart park garage. They are close by and less than half the price of the hotel's parking.
