After checking in and receiving a key card my friend and I struggled with our bags to the second floor, negotiated the key in the lock, and walked into an obviously occupied room! Suitcases, food, towels and books but thank God no people ready to defend themselves! It's not unusual for travelers to carry a gun these days- but the response from the front desk was "Oh, we must have forgot to put it in the computer." Most of the staff were young and undertrained and in several cases surly towards their guests. I know it's a cheaper hotel but there's no excuse for unpleasant attitudes or such potentially disastrous sloppy work.

The hotel's location is close to public transportation and MAX service to downtown Portland. The hotel room was comfortable and the staff was friendly. Stayed three nights and we would stay again.

I stayed at the La Quinta in October 2009. The staff was friendly. The hotel clerk gave me all the info about the hotel (including the fresh baked cookies they serve in the evening). They do give out a decent free breakfast with oatmeal, fruit, biscuits and waffles but no meat. I brought my own sausage and heated it up in the microwave in the dining room. The outside of the hotel doesn't look great but the rooms are fine. They had a refrigerator, microwave, TV with Comcast. The hotel is in a great location. It was right next to Red Robin, Dennys and it was only three blocks from the mall. All in all well worth the price.

For the first time, in a long time, I enjoyed sleeping in a strange bed. It was a pillow top mattress and very comfortable. The continental breakfast included biscuits and gravy which was a pleasant surprise and delicious. The convenience to the Convention Center was most important and being right across the street from the Red Robin provided easy access for dinner. Cable television kept me informed of the news in the mornings and the accommodations were great.

This is property is in need of a complete overhaul. The overall feel of the place was worn and grimmy. The room smelled of mold. I was moved to another room when I complained but then, houskeeping neglected to make my bed the next day. The breakfast was okay and the staff was friendly. Location was great. Wouldn't stay again.
